Music Video Premiere: Henny Knightz - Devil’s Locker
Watch Devil’s Locker here:
We sat down with Henny just after he’d released Random House of Evil, so we’re super excited to see him revisit Nuprint Magazine to let us give you a first look at this thought provoking music video.
There is something distinct about Henny Knightz and his approach to R&B and Hiphop. When we met Henny in June, we were drawn to his autobiographical style of writing rap. Henny told the story of his internal battles in a way that most are too afraid to do.
Following the success of his enigmatic, yet unshielded project The Random House Of Evil, Henny brings another display of uncompromised ingenuity. His creativity continues to evolve as we land here with a premiere of the visuals to his latest single Devil’s Locker.
Revealed as the foundation of the EP, Devil’s Locker beautifully merges a nostalgic and soulful backdrop to unapologetically honest Henny. Captured by visual geniuses the Foolish Professionals (E.Greaves & Anarfi Lloyd), the Devil’s Locker video illustrates the duality of a suicidal introvert growing up in the ‘Ends’ of Hackney (and we mean way before it was gentrified). The boundaryless vulnerability that Henny shows in this video reminds us of reality within the crevices of society, the unseen struggles of living in an underrepresented area.
Alternative at it’s deepest root, Random House of Evil tackles all myths around the glamorisation of poverty and depression. Split into 6 tracks that signify 6 rooms inside the cerebral boarding house of his mind, Henny is forced to relive and narrate agonising moments from his past. Triumph ensues as the project climaxes; the hope of escape replaces the frustrations and tragedies of being imprisoned by your estate.
