The Jagaban | Back Again With the Midas Touch

After taking some time to recover, Midas the Jagaban is back with a double whammy - new visuals for ’Cloud 9’ and ‘Step 2 Me’ from debut EP, ’Midas Touch’. Since making room for herself on the male-dominated Afrobeats scene, Midas remains unmatched, unrivalled, and pioneering in her swift ascent.

Midas’ well known breakthrough tracks, ‘Come We Bill Ehh’ and ‘Party With A Jagaban’ blasted BBC Radio 1xtra’s Ones To Watch for 2021, racking up 40 million plays combined (and counting!).

And now, here we are with more from Midas’ culturally defining EP. Involving some of the most renowned creative masterminds, ‘Cloud 9’ was directed by Nathan James Tettey, the brains behind Ghettz & Stormzy’s ‘Skengman’ as well as Headie One & Drake’s ‘Only You Freestyle’.

Throughout the video, Midas’ character echoes The Joker, a misunderstood genius, while also paying homage to Afrobeat legend Lágbájá. Midas proudly shows off her Nigerian roots with traditional attire (worn by the dancers), while maintaining her trademark anonymity.

‘Step 2 Me’ sees Midas playing a narrative that switches up gender roles and uses her power to open a dialogue. The video also features Radio 1xtra and Reprezent Radio presenter, Remi Burgz.
